Characterizing the Abnormal Lipid Profile in the Nerves of Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease Type 1A Point Mutation Mouse Model
I intend to characterize the abnormal lipid profile of a hereditary neuropathic mutant mouse model through the use of various immunolabeling methods in nervous tissue and Schwann cells of the mutant mice for lipid localization and interaction studies. Western blotting quanitification of lipid-related proteins will serve as an auxiliary method of determining abnormal lipid levels. I aim to characterize the importance of lipids in relation to the hypomyelination of nerves present in this mutant mouse model.
