Research Description

Understanding narrative video in order predicting heart rate variation
Humans are complicated creatures and understanding them is even more complicated. Video narratives have existed for decades, but our understanding of how we respond to them is still limited. There is existing work in this area, but much still needs to be done. Having a concrete understanding of human reactions while watching videos can result in improved algorithms in video summarization or movie recommendations. The goal of our project is to create a predictive model for heart rate variation based on video content features, pupil dilation, and other relevant predictors.
