"I have always loved learning about science and I wanted to learn more about the process of discovery that leads to all the amazing discoveries that we learn about all the time. I was lucky enough to find Dr. Bruijnzeel's lab, where I began to work in Fall 2016. Since then, I've been able to play important roles in several interesting projects. Research plays a vital part in the betterment of our society and I am proud to have been a part of that."

Research Description

The Long Term Effects of Cannabis Smoke Exposure
My project involves analyzing the long term effects of cannabis smoke exposure on rats. There are three groups of rats, the control group, the placebo group (that receives smoke without THC), the rats that receive the full cannabis treatment. Once they are fully grown, I help to run a series of tests on them that test traits such as anxiety, depression-like symptoms, and cognition/memory. I hope that the results of this research project can improve public awareness of the consequences of drug use and play a role in shaping public policy.
