"Being more of a hands-on learner, research is the perfect environment for me to advance my interests in Virtual Reality (VR). The topic has always interested me and I want to apply VR to the medical and therapeutic field so that those facing difficulties can be put more at ease."

Research Description

Virtual Experiences for Dyslexia Awareness (VEDA)
VEDA will make use of a virtual environment in order to express the difficulties people with dyslexia face in an academic environment. The user will be able to switch between two modes: one shows what a non-dyslexic person might see and the other what a dyslexic person might. A timed test will be placed in front of the user. More time spent on the 'dyslexic' mode will impact the score and environment accordingly. This will be done to encourage teachers to adapt their curriculum and ways of teaching to help those with dyslexia.
