"I applied to the scholars program to learn how to do research and present my research in a scholarly manner. I hope to be able to be one of the first people to find out how marine mammal's eye have adapted to their aquatic environment."

The evolutionary adaptations of the marine mammals' eye
My research project is comparing and contrasting the evolutionary adaptions of the eye of the florida manatee and the bottle nose dolphin. My mentor and I are comparing structure and function of the eye to see how the eye adapts to it's environment. We will use examine skulls and use histology techniques to determine the structure of the eye for both mammals.
