Research Description

Uncovering Remnants of Western Civilization through Mass Spectrometry

My project involves an isotope analysis of Roman era individuals unearthed in Macedonia. The bodies were found near what was the official cemetery of the city in a mass grave. Based on the associated artifacts the episode dates to around 300 AD, which occurs around the time of the Great Persecution. I'm interested in finding out more about these individuals via an isotopic analysis which can reveal facts such as migration routes and diet.
