"I applied to the University Scholars Program because it seemed like a great avenue for me to explore my interests in economics, statistics, contracts, and
decision-making in baseball while simultaneously gaining experience in analyzing data and performing research. Investigating MLB General Managers’
decisions serves as unbelievable research for my career in baseball and is a great learning opportunity in a field that I love. The economic validity of long-term
contracts has been questioned in recent years, so I want to see which side of the argument has more credence. My goals for this academic year include learning
more about business and baseball and obtaining an internship within Major League Baseball."
