Cellular Pathways Involved in Cell Transformation and Oncogenesis
To employ cellular, biochemical and genetic approaches to identify key pathways targeted by viral transforming proteins. This project involves elucidating the roles of acetylation of tumor suppressor p53 and related proteins such as p73 for their function through mutagenesis and luciferase reporter gene assay. We are also interested in understanding the interactions between p53 family proteins and Daxx, because Daxx binds to p53 and p73. These interactions may play important roles in the diverse functions of Daxx ranging from transcriptional regulation to apoptosis, as well as cell cycle control.
