"I am very interested in water quality and the antibiotic project through my department was so interesting to me. Last summer I did water quality analysis in India and being able to continue research with something that interests me was a great opportunity. Research specifically is very important to the University and the community and being able to participate is so exciting."

Antibiotic Sorption to Biochar
Antibiotics in the environment from livestock are an increasing concern. They are being detected throughout the country and as a result antibiotic resistant bacteria are forming. In my project we are doing sorption experiments with biochar. The goal of the project is to determine if there is a biochar that will be able to remove antibiotics from the livestock operations and to prevent them from entering the environment especially the soil and water.
