Research Description

Retinal Drug Delivery by Cationic, Degradable Particles
Our proposed project focuses on developing a novel platform for delivering drugs to retina through drugs encapsulated in nanoparticles, which will be designed to have a 1-year retention in the vitreous by tailoring the surface of the particles to have a high binding with the polymer in the vitreous. The particles will also be designed to be smaller than 200 nm in size to ensure transparency of vitreous, and also be biodegradable while releasing the encapsulated drugs for a period of 1 year.
