Scheduling in Healthcare
Many aspects of the healthcare industry can be greatly improved through the application of engineering principles. Scheduling is a prime example of an area of healthcare that has potential to be made infinitely more efficient. In the past 10 years, healthcare professionals have just started to apply mathematical principles to scheduling. Through simulation, optimization, modeling, and many other processes used for many years by engineers, scheduling systems can be greatly improved. In my study, I seek to identify all of the constraints present in the healthcare industry, and will seek mathematical solutions to these complex problems.
