"Last year a dear friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer. She went through chemotherapy and is now currently in remission. I watched her recovery process and noticed the amount of activity she added into her life even during chemotherapy. Now she is alive and ready to take on any adventure life throws at her. Her attitude got me thinking about how much an impact dance and movement could make in someone's recovery process. She is truly an inspiration to me."

Research Description

Dance to Recovery
My project will be a collaborative project with Shannon Healey. Each week during our study we will have an hour long dance class with an emphasis on yoga and creative movement. Each participant will be a patient recovering from the effects of chemotherapy. We will observe our participants each week while also conducting personal interviews with each individual. We hope to see positive changes on our participants’ well-being at the end of our study.
