"Applied to get an opportunity to work on a high-level engineering project that I would otherwise not have been involved with. I hope to learn better mechanical design principles through the study of this project. My goals for the year are to finish the design for the robot I'm working on, and to animate that design to be used as a promotional piece."

Proposal for the Design of an Autonomous, Robotic Alligator-inspired UF Mascot, “AlBot”
The idea for this proposal is to design the physical embodiment for an Albert (or Alberta) the Alligator-type robot, tentatively named AlBot. The robot should be capable of dressing in the Albert mascot suit. The purpose of this would be to capitalize on the enormous popularity of Albert to attract attention, motivate interest, and serve as a demonstration of the engineering capabilities of the University of Florida. This robotic mascot is not intended to replace the existing and beloved “true Albert,” but is instead intended to work alongside him.
