Large-Scale Colloidal Self-Assembly
I am trying to develop new methods for large-scale colloidal self-assembly. The crystallization of monodisperse colloidal particles is very interesting because they can be utilized in diffractive optical devices, biosensors, anti-reflection coatings and many more fields. Many applications are cost-prohibitive though because there are not many ways to manufacture these devices large-scale. I have been working on developing new technologies to mass-produce these crystals for industrial use. There are 2 previously reported methods that Dr. Jiangs group has developed in the past. We have developed another, and I continue to work on a fourth. The more choices industrial partners have, the better the chances are that one of the methods will fit their application.
